Spetses is situated 64 nautical miles from Athens in the most enchanting of the Saronic Gulf Islands, only 3 miles wide and 5 miles long. Spetses has one town around two harbour areas; the rest of the island is covered by the beautifully scented pine trees. There are a few options available to get to the island, car, hydrofoil catamaran or ferry boat. By car from Athens the journey us approx. 3 hours to Kosta and then a short 5 minute water taxi across to Spetses. By hydrofoil from Zea Marina takes approx. 2 hours with hydrofoils leaving almost every hour and by Catamaran from Pireaus the direct crossing is only 11/2 hours, There is also the ferry boat which leaves Pireaus main port at 08.00 every morning (journey time approx. 4 hrs), a very relaxing journey as the boat stops at the other Saronic Islands on the way.
